Aqua fitness has steadily become a rising fitness trend, shedding the stigma of the “elderly-only exercise” of the past.  Water pilates features additional benefits over traditional practice by adapting a zero-gravity water environment, challenging your core strength and stability while enhancing breathing techniques in ways far more beneficial than traditional Pilates.  By adding water resistance and buoyancy to the practice, you can focus on activating muscle groups while giving your heart a good work out, but without increasing your overall heart rate.  It’s a fun, healthy, and relaxing way to get in shape.

Featured in the Sea Ranch Resort’s covered, heated pool from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Morning Water Pilates gets you out of the bed and energized to make the most of your Outer Banks vacation.  Taught by Alison Urbanek, a six year experienced instructor with the YMCA, classes are available free to patrons of the Sea Ranch Resort and with a small fee to the public. Bring  your friends and family, or met some new and fascinating people out under the Outer Banks sun as you embrace a healthier day and lifestyle.  No swimming skills are necessary, but highly advised.
