Ramblin’ At The Sea Ranch – March 24-26, 2017
In collaboration with the Ramblin’ Conrad Folklife Institute
We are proud of our history and heritage here at the Sea Ranch. We have guests who return year after year, and consider ourselves a “classic” Outer Banks hotel. We are also proud to announce our partnership with the Ramblin’ Conrad Folklife Institute in presenting “Ramblin’ At the Sea Ranch” on March 24-26, 2017! If you aren’t familiar with the Ramblin’ Conrad Folklife Institute, you are in for a treat. A brainchild and lifelong passion of troubadour, Bob Zentz, the institute is a recent evolution of a decades long journey of preserving music and folk culture of Eastern Virginia. The Tidewater area of Virginia has a rich tapestry of musical traditions and we are excited about hosting an event that features a hands-on approach to learning and playing music from this area.
The list of instructors include Michael Ronstadt, Serenity Fisher, and Jeanne McDougall Zentz and we will also have an old-time Contra Dance with caller Ben Albrandt and fiddler Tommy Britt.
Workshops will be held on learning musical styles ranging from Maritime to Celtic and Latino to Old Time. There will even be a learn-to-dance session for the Contra-shy!
Friday will have a Welcome Happy Hour & Concert and Saturday Night will have a Concert and Contra Dance (experts AND beginners)
