labor day

Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, has been a day to honor the social and economic achievements of the American worker for well over a century.  First adopted on a state by state basis in the early 1880s, the popular idea of paying recognition to American laborer quickly caught on and became a widespread phenomenon.  The first Monday in September was selected as the holiday in 1894, and with the help of labor organizations, the day was celebrated by many industrial centers around the country.   By June 1894, Congress passed an act making the first Monday of September the legal holiday for the entire country.  Typically celebrated with parades and exhibits, Labor Day is most commonly enjoyed with one of the highest rewards a worker can receive: a day off!

This Labor Day, consider the Sea Ranch Resort as your go-to get away from the office!  Pack your bags and head down to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for some well-deserved relaxation and fun in the sun!  Come take in our tranquil view of the Atlantic Ocean, just outside your bedroom!  Go down to the beach, stretch out, and dispel your work concerns on our warm sands, or take a plunge in our covered pool and leave the workaday world on the surface.  Conveniently located in Kill Devil Hills, enjoy access to a variety of historical and culturally significant locations, and then head on back for an exquisite supper by the ocean at the Sea Ranch’s own dining establishment, the Beachside Bistro!

Act now and take advantage of our Summer Breeze Special!  Beginning August 9, and running through September 7, 2015, when you book two nights, Sunday thru Thursday, you get the third night half off!  Weekend Rate applies on Labor Day, but certainly there is no greater way to celebrate having a day off than by taking a few more and saving some money in the process!  After all, you worked for it, so you deserve it!
