Check Out the Mid-Atlantic Regional Surfing Championship
Around the end of April, the ESA Mid-Atlantic Regional Surfing Championship comes to town every year. Taking place just off the beach by Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, this annual event is a qualifier for the USA Surfing’s Prime events and USA Surfing Championships. Because of this, it attracts some of the region’s best surfers.

What to Know About Other Aquatic Events
The fun doesn’t stop with the above surfing competition. There are plenty of other aquatic events and competitions to check out this summer.
- Check out the newest kiteboarding equipment and gear at the annual Kiteboarding Kickoff Weekend. This event takes place at the end of May in Rodanthe, making it a great day trip option from our Kill Devil Hills resort.
- Every year around mid-July, Surfing for Autism hosts a two-day event that gives kids with autism a chance to go on a surfing adventure they will never forget. Participants can surf with a skilled therapist or teacher and at least two surfing guides.
- Skim Jam at the end of July brings some of the East Coast’s best skimboarders to Nags Head. The weekend-long event takes place near Jennette’s Pier.
