The Outer Banks attracts people from all over the world for a wide variety of reasons – the beaches, the ocean, the water sports, fishing, sun, wind, music, family to name a few. The list is as long as you want to make it! One area that is attracting more and more people is the food here. We have written extensively on this blog about the growing culinary scene on the Outer Banks that has been growing over the years and is only getting stronger. A parallel thread that underwrites this storyline is in the seafood industry. We export millions of dollars of seafood every year and the restaurants here feature some of the best seafood dishes anywhere. Each year in October we celebrate our seafood culture with the Outer Banks Seafood Festival. Held at the Nags Head event grounds, this 1 day event attracts thousands of visitors from around the country. The first year alone saw close to 15,000 people and featured a very high number of local restaurants serving their finest examples of dishes.
As with any proper festival there is also beer and music served with your seafood as well!
